Course Proposals
The Academic Board approved proposals to amend the following courses:
- Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning: the amendment of the Bachelor of Design in Architecture and the Bachelor of Design Computing;
- Faculty of Dentistry: the amendment of the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry, Graduate Diploma in Clinical Dentistry and Graduate Certificate in Clinical Dentistry;
- Faculty of Education and Social Work: the amendment of the Doctor of Education;
- Faculty of Health Sciences: the withdrawal of the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Nursing) (off-shore), the Master of Health Science (Education), the Master of Health Science (Gerontology) and the Master of Health Science (Management) from offer in Singapore; and the amendment of units of study in the Bachelor of Applied Science and the Bachelor of Health Sciences; the deletion of the streams from the Master of Exercise and Sport Science;
- Faculty of Medicine: the deletion of the Dermatology, Interdisciplinary Medicine and Renal Medicine streams from the Master of Medicine, the Graduate Diploma in Medicine and the Graduate Certificate in Medicine; and the amendment of the Master of Health Policy, the Graduate Diploma in Health Policy and the Graduate Certificate in Health Policy;
- Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery: the amendment of the Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing, the Master of Clinical Nursing, the Master of Clinical Trials Practice, the Master of Emergency Nursing, the Master of Intensive Care Nursing, the Master of Mental Health Nursing and the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner); and the amendment of the Master of Nursing (Honours) and the Master of Philosophy (Nursing);
- Sydney Conservatorium of Music: the amendment of the Master of Music Studies (Conducting), the Master of Music Studies (Creative Sound), the Master of Music Studies (Opera), the Master of Music Studies (Pedagogy), the Graduate Diploma in Music Accompaniment, the Graduate Diploma in Music Opera, the Graduate Diploma in Music Studies (Creative Sound), the Graduate Diploma in Music Studies (Pedagogy), the Graduate Certificate in Music Studies (Creative Sound) and the Graduate Certificate in Music Studies (Pedagogy); and the amendment of the Master of Music (Performance).
Policies
The Academic Board:
- recommended that Senate amend the University of Sydney (Student Appeals against Academic Decisions) Rule 2006 (as amended);
- approved the rescission of the Academic Board Resolutions: Student Appeals against Academic Decisions;
- approved the amendment of the Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) and University of Sydney Postgraduate Awards (UPA) Ranking Guidelines;
- approved the amendment of the Guidelines for Examiners of Doctor of Philosophy Theses;
- approved the introduction of the Statement on Open Access; and
- approved in principle the amendment of the Promotions Policy and Guidelines.
Other Matters
The Academic Board also:
- noted and congratulated by acclamation the recipients of honours and distinctions;
- approved a revised structure for the committees of the Academic Board;
- noted the elected members of the Academic Board and approved those members nominated to fill casual vacancies;
- noted the Phase 3 Academic Board Faculty Review report for the Faculty of Health Sciences and the progress report for the Faculty of Medicine; and
- approved the use of the title Postdoctoral Fellow by members of staff holding Australian Postdoctoral Fellowships.
