Dr William J (Jim) Peacock AC, FAA, FRS, FTSE, FAIAST (BSc '58, PhDSc '63, DAgr '02). Dr Peacock is a renowned scientific communicator, known as a fascinating and engaging speaker, and is in a unique position to speak to us on one of the key challenges for Australia in the 21st century: "Science Education - a prerequisite for an Innovative Australia".
Dr Peacock is a multiple-award winning scientist and science advocate who has been Chief Scientist at the CSIRO since March 2006. He is recognised internationally as an eminent researcher in the field of plant molecular biology and its applications in agriculture. He is also known for his founding roles with the Gene Shears biotechnology company, the GrainGene initiative and the HRZ Wheat Company, transforming research into the production of new Australian wheat varieties.
Graduate Connections Breakfasts are held four times a year featuring orations by University of Sydney alumni who inspire, inform and invite discussion. They are held early on the morning at a convenient central CBD location enabling Alumni and Friends to start their work day fresh from a filling, delicious Breakfast mixed in with plenty of 'food for thought'.
All are welcome, however attendance is by pre-payment only before the 5 September RSVP deadline.
