Revised University Privacy Management Plan - Exposure Draft
The link below will take you to the exposure draft of the University's Privacy Management Plan and its appendices.
The plan has been revised to incorporate the changes required by the commencement of the new privacy legislation, the Health Records and Information Privacy Act, NSW 2002, which came into force on 1 September 2004. The new act provides a new and separate regime for managing health information, which aims to balance the public interest in protecting the privacy of health information with the public interest in the legitimate use of that information.
The revised plan:
- provides a plain English guide to the Information Privacy Principles;
- explains what staff need to do to comply with all the privacy legislation;
- identifies the places and systems where personal information is stored;
- includes “Frequently Asked Questions” – FAQs ; and
- provides forms for staff, students and members of the public to use, for applying for access to their personal information, and to use the legislation to protect their rights.
