Confidentiality
The NSW Protected Disclosures Act makes it incumbent upon the University not to disclose information that might indentify a complainant. Basically the Protected Disclosures Act supports a person in the cirmcumstances where there is evidence that reprisal action has been taken against them in direct response to having made an allegation.
The University makes every effort to ensure the confidentiality of information that might identify the person making the allegation.
If there is any need to release information that might identify the person making the allegation this will be discussed firstly with this person.
Confidentiality of information supplied by a witness in an investigation is similarly applied.
The University also makes every effort to ensure the confidentiality of the person who is the subject of the allegation. However, investigation of an allegation does require that staff members directly senior to the persons who are the subject of the allegation are informed of the investigation.
