Enrolling a packaged student
What is packaging?
Packaging means a student can get one visa to cover both their English studies as well as their university studies. It is particularly useful for students who are from level 3 and level 4 countries.
Those students who only wish to study at CET should apply for a single visa to cover their English course at CET. This means they would be non-packaged.

The student needs the following in order to apply at CET for a packaged visa:
- current conditional offer from the University of Sydney
- IELTS/TOEFL results (less than two years old)
- completed CET application
Use the following procedure to enrol a packaged student:
- Send three (3) documents to CET (we are able to offer a package when we receive these documents)
- conditional offer from The University of Sydney
- IELTS/TOEFL results (less than two years old)
- completed CET application
- conditional offer from The University of Sydney
- CET sends package offer
- Apply for PVA if necessary
- Sign 'Acceptance of Package Offer' form and send it with payment and PVA (if required) to CET. All payments to CET only.
- Two Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoEs) issued:
- one from CET - English Studies
- one from International Office (IO) - Degree studies
- one from CET - English Studies
- Apply for visa with the two eCoEs
Enrolling a non-packaged student
Use the following procedure to enrol a non-packaged student:
- Counsel student
- Send a completed CET Application form by:
fax: 61 2 9036 7908
online: online application form (level 1, 2 & 3 countries only) - Receive 'Letter of Offer' from CET - discuss with student
- Pay tuition fees (level 3 & 4 countries to obtain PVA before paying fees)
- Receive Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE) AND 'Letter of Acceptance'
- Apply for visa
Programs & English tests

CET offers a wide range of English education so in order to counsel accordingly, please familiarise yourself as well as your staff with the various courses. Information on our courses can be found in our current brochure and under Programs and dates on this website.
It is also important to see the Pathways to success diagram and apply it to enrolling a student.
For information about English testing, please visit English tests.
Accommodation
Accommodation will be very different in Sydney compared to that of your student's country. The inner city, where the university is situated, has mostly older-styled housing available for homestay/homeshare students.
Homestay/homeshare may seem strange at first while your student learns about our different customs. Interacting with people from other cultures can be challenging for even the most motivated student, however it can also be very rewarding.
It is important that the students come with an open mind and the knowledge that things will not be the same. It generally takes students at least a week to feel at home.
You can help to minimise homesickness and other concerns students have when they first arrive by supplying them with this information.
CET does not supply accommodation directly however we do recommend some providers who you can contact and book for your students. See our accommodation page for more info.
Orientation & registration - the first day at CET

Generally registration of our students begins at 9:00am. Upon registration the student will receive a program outlining the events of the day which includes introducing the student to CET and its surroundings and also a free lunch in one of the University's many facilities.
In the afternoon, class lists will be put on the notice boards so the student knows what to do for the following day's commencement of their course.
