The Centre for English Teaching is an official Testing Centre for IELTS. It is part of a global network of more than 300 test locations in 120 countries that test over 700,000 IELTS candidates in a year.

CET holds its tests at the LTC Testing Centre at Wentworth Park. To find out more information about what happens on the test day see the Test day section.

You can apply for IELTS at CET on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:30am - 3:30pm. To find out more please go to Registration and also Dates and fees.

What is IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is an international test of English language proficiency. It is available in over 250 centres worldwide. It is the preferred test for entry to Australian universities.

The test accurately indicates a person's ability in the four fundamental English skills:

  1. Listening - Test time: 30 minutes (approx.)
  2. Reading - Test time - Academic/General: 60 minutes (approx.)
  3. Writing - Test time - Academic/General: 60 minutes (approx.)
  4. Speaking - Test time: 15 minutes (approx.)
