Confucius Institute at the University of Sydney

The University of Sydney Confucius Institute is the first Confucius Institute established in New South Wales. It operates under an agreement between The University of Sydney and the Office of Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) in China, in partnership with Fudan University in Shanghai. The Institute is jointly managed by the International Institute, the Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific (RIAP) and the Faculty of Arts.

The role of the University of Sydney Confucius Institute is to provide Chinese language and culture classes and programs of the highest academic standards to the greater Sydney community. As cultural and business ties between Australia and China become ever more important, there is an increasing need to provide the Australian public with more opportunities for understanding the long cultural history of China as well as the rapidly changing and complex society of China today.

The Institute will serve as a bridge to help open doors in China for Australians wishing to establish more connections of mutual benefit between Australia and China.
