The University of Sydney Confucius Institute
悉尼大学孔子学院

The University of Sydney Confucius Institute is the first to be established in New South Wales. It operates under an agreement between The University of Sydney and the Office Chinese Language Council International (Hanban) in China, in partnership with Fudan University Shanghai. It is jointly managed by the International Institute, the Research Institute for Asia and the Pacific and the Faculty of Arts.
As China strengthens its cultural and business ties with Australia, there is an increasing need to raise awareness of both its long cultural history and its rapidly changing and complex society today. To this end, The University of Sydney Confucius Institute will provide Chinese language and culture classes and programs of the highest academic standard.
The Institute seeks to enhance the ability of Australian academics, members of business and local communities, government and educational administrators, and other professionals to communicate with their Chinese counterparts in their local language. It will open doors for Australians wishing to establish further connections of mutual benefit and education between the two countries, and in the long term, it is anticipated that it will become the leading Chinese cultural and language centre in NSW, catering to lifelong learning at all levels, from primary to tertiary education and beyond.
