This discussion forum brings together one of Australia’s most influential art critics and well-known Asian art scholars. It coincides with the opening of a new solo exhibition by prominent Chinese-Australian contemporary artist Guan Wei at Kaliman Gallery on 25 September.
In this latest exhibition, Guan Wei explores the contrasting realities of his birth place, China, and his adopted home country, Australia. His artistic vision draws attention to the social and environmental predicaments we face in contemporary society.
The panel will discuss a range of topics including the development and influence of Chinese contemporary art in Western society and explore the Chinese cultural and arts influences in Guan Wei’s artwork. Guan Wei will speak about his personal journey and current exhibition.
