Over 30 members of the Alumni Council and guests gathered at a formal luncheon in the historic Darlington Boardroom in the Institute Building on Friday 06 June to farewell Professor Gavin Brown AO. Dr Barry Catchlove praised Professor Brown for his tremendous achievements during his time as Vice-Chancellor. He also thanked him for his support of the Alumni Council in his 12 year term as Vice-Chancellor, particularly in recent years in assisting in raising the profile of the Council to the University's peak alumni body.

In his reply, Professor Brown thanked Council members for their highly valued voluntary contributions to the University. He also thanked Ms Bowman, Ms Beck, Dr Catchlove and Dr Thomas for their individual contributions over the years. He noted the importance of "friend-raising" and the separation of fundraising from alumni engagement.
