Key Priorities 2009lion

The University of Sydney Alumni Council will hold its annual Strategic Planning Workshop on Tuesday 24 March 2009. Key priorities for 2009 will be identified at that meeting.

The Key Priorities, which were developed by working groups at the 2008 Strategic Planning Workshop, follow:

 

Alumni Centre
- launch and occupation
- accessibility

 

Online Web Community - Encompass

 Links between Council/Associations
- information sharing
- interest groups / for alumni with no affiliation

 Alumni/Student Engagement
- mentoring
- Student Clubs and Societies links

1. Alumni Awards selection committee
Mr Grahame Cox [Chair] (Alumni Council Secretary), Dr Jennifer Alison (Alumni Council), Ms Tracey Beck (Director, Alumni Relations), Dr Robin Fitzsimons (Senate Fellow- Alumni Council), Mr John McLenaghan (Deputy President, Alumni Council), Mr Frank Perry (Alumni Council), Mr Adam Spencer (Senate Fellow- Alumni Council), Mr David Turner (President, Alumni Council), and Mr George Varughese (Alumni Council).

The Awards program was extended in 2008 to include Community Achievement (existing), International Alumni Achievement, Professional Achievement, and Young Alumni Achievement. Selection criteria have been established to recognise the attributes for each category.

Alumni Award for Community Achievement
Recognises the personal contributions that alumni have made to the enrichment of Australian society through their community service.

Alumni Award for International Achievement
Recognises the personal contributions that alumni who reside overseas have made to the enrichment of international society through their community or professional service.

Alumni Award for Professional Achievement
Recognises outstanding achievements of alumni in their professional field.

Young Alumni Award for Achievement
Recognises outstanding achievements made by alumni aged 30 and younger to the University, local, Australian or international communities.

2. Convocation Medal selection committee
Mr John McLenaghan [Chair] (Deputy President, Alumni Council), Dr Susan Coulson (Alumni Council), Registrar's representative- tbc, Ms Tracey Beck (Director, Alumni Relations), Professor Robyn Overall (Academic Board representative), Ms Prue Castleden (Dean's representative, Faculty of Economics & Business), Dean's representative, Faculty of Health Sciences- tbc.

A change in nomination criteria will allow students and general staff to nominate students.

3. Alumni Communications working group
Mr David Turner [Chair] (President, Alumni Council), Ms Tracey Beck (Director, Alumni Relations), Mr Charles Littrell (Alumni Council), Emeritus Professor Angus Martin (Alumni Council), Mr Frank Perry (Alumni Council), Mr Andrew Potter (Media Manager), Mr Steve Rawling AM (Alumni Council), Ms Marian Theobald (Executive Director, External Relations), and Ms Hazel Baker (Alumni Programs Officer).



Councillors are invited to submit expressions of interest in participating in the Sub-committees above.
