The University is undergoing a significant transformation
to move forward in performance. It is a great honour to have been elected as the
President of the University of Sydney Alumni Council for a third term at this
important time in the University's history.
Student engagement and alumni
are recognised as increasingly important elements of the University. The University
of Sydney Alumni Council recognises that it needs to play a leadership role in
building and nurturing relationships with these groups. | In
2005, the University of Sydney Alumni Council, then known as the Standing Committee
of Convocation, initiated a review of its role and terms of reference. As a result,
the University of Sydney Alumni Council now has representation from a broad range
of alumni associations and chapters and includes the Graduate Fellows of Senate.
This will facilitate collaborations and allow the Council to capitalise on the
synergies in drawing upon the experience and expertise from these groups. |
The
University of Sydney Alumni Council is the peak alumni body of the University
and was established by the University of Sydney Act. Its mission is to play a
central role in building a life-long partnership between the University and its
alumni. That relationship starts with students from their first day at University
and continues to grow through graduation and beyond. The Alumni Council seeks
to reach, engage and represent alumni in the life and work of the University.
I
look forward to the challenges and opportunities ahead.

of the University of Sydney Alumni Council
