This program is relevant for you if you design, teach, supervise, assess or manage education programs for students, new graduates, service providers and patient educators in medicine, nursing, allied health professions and other health workers.

Health Science Education refers to the theory and practice of teaching and learning undertaken by health professionals in a variety of contexts across the health sciences, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and clinical education; staff development and continuing professional education; and, patient and community health education. Studies in this specialist area have been offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences since 1989. The Health Science (Education) program is designed to give an additional professional qualification as a teacher facilitating student learning and as a manager of education programs, including curriculum leadership and scholarly inquiry into teaching and learning.

The graduate certificate is the baseline entry level program for the Master of Health Science (Education). Students who successfully complete the graduate certificate are eligible for full credit for their study and can articulate to the graduate diploma or master’s course. Available in full-time (0.5 year) or part-time (1 year) off-campus mode.

Strict application closing dates for Semester 1, 2010
Please note that the closing date for domestic student applications for Semester 1 2010 will be 30 October 2009. Applications submitted after this date will not be accepted.

Course completion requirements

24 credit points: students are to complete as required the core, elective and general elective units of study shown in the Table of units of study for the award as set out in the Faculty of Health Sciences handbook.
