The Master of Exercise Physiology is a 2 year graduate entry master degree designed to produce graduates who possess the knowledge, competencies and clinical experience required for safe and effective clinical exercise practice.

The Master of Exercise Physiology is ideal for those who wish to translate their sports science knowledge into an area that allows them to work in clinical practice. Exercise physiologists develop safe and effective exercise management plans to prevent or manage chronic disease, injury and disability, including conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, cancer and obesity.  Students are trained in the assessment of physical and functional capacity, identifying risks and the design of targeted, functional and sustainable exercise programs. They therefore play a vital role in controlling the ever-growing problem of chronic disease in Australia.

Clinical & professional fieldwork
A number of clinical and professional fieldwork opportunities are scheduled as part of your course. This will give you the hands on experience with real clients in a supervised environment to allow you to combine the academic sections of your course with the practical abilities required of the exercise physiology profession. Some of the clinical and professional fieldwork sites that students have attended previously include:

  • Campbelltown Hospital
  • Australian Rugby Union
  • BP Australia
  • Northern Territory Institute of Sport
  • NSW Police Service, Healthy Lifestyle Branch
  • Rehab Options Australia
  • Ryde Aquatic and Leisure Centre
  • Sydney Heart Centre

There are a number of essential requirements that students need to prepare for before attending any site for clinical and professional fieldwork. Further information on these and more is available at our Clinical & Professional Fieldwork website.

Commonwealth Supported Places
The Faculty has a number of Commonwealth Supported Places available for this program. These places offer a considerable reduction in fees and are awarded to applicants who rank highest in their Grade Point Average. You will be notified with your offer if you qualify for a Commonwealth Supported Place.
