Yannadah (Cumberland Campus)

Yannadah is the student residence at Cumberland campus. It contains 39 single study bedrooms for male and female students. There is also an on-site Residential Supervisor.

Shared facilities are: bathroom, living areas, dining room and a coin operated laundry. All common areas are cleaned on a daily basis from Monday to Friday and bedrooms and linen are cleaned weekly. All personal washing can be done in the communal laundry facilities.

A continental breakfast and an evening meal are provided 7 days per week.

Study bedrooms

All rooms are fully furnished with a desk, study chair, desk lamp, heater, wardrobe, single bed, all bedding, telephone handset and internet access. Residents need to provide their own towels and iron.

Please note: the phone service is limited to incoming calls and making internal calls within The University of Sydney.

Meals

The weekly fees cover a continental breakfast and evening meal seven days per week. Students with special dietary needs may incur an additional cost. There are limited kitchen facilities for student use. However, refrigerators are available. Students need to provide their own crockery and cutlery and are responsible for cleaning the area after use.

Visitors

Residents can entertain a small number of friends and family in the Residence, provided they are respectful to others. Visitors are not allowed to stay overnight without the permission of the Residential Manager.

Semester Recess

Students are expected to vacate the Residence during the mid-year break and no rental fees are will be charged. Personal belongings can be stored on site. Students remaining in residence are charged a reduced weekly rate, however no meals will be provided.

Parking

Parking is available on request, conditions and restrictions apply.

Property insurance

Students are responsible for insuring their property against theft and fire whilst in residence.

General Code of Conduct

Residents are expected to be considerate of others, observe University guidelines and generally maintain an environment conducive to study. Smoking or consumption of alcohol is not permitted at Yannadah.

Eligibility - Criteria for Selection

Preference is given to first year undergraduate students from outside the greater metropolitan area who are undertaking their first full time degree. Second preference is given to other full-time undergraduate students.

Accommodation is generally available for one year only.

Schedule of Fees - 2009 Academic Year
Single Room - $215.00 per week.
Key/Room Deposit - $430.00 (Refundable)
Room Holding Fee - $215.00 (Forfeited if room is cancelled – otherwise
credited towards first rental payment)
Fees are payable two weeks in advance.

Applications open 15 January 2009 and close at 4.30pm 30 January 2009. An application form will be posted on this site between the above dates.
