Content management

Content management is the practice of planning, creating, publishing, maintaining and evaluating your web content.

Best practice in content management revolves around ensuring sure that your content is:

  • appropriate for its audience(s)
  • supporting your business goals
  • relevant, accurate and current
  • regularly maintained (with clear ownership, a review schedule and a process for auditing its accuracy)
  • is usable and accessible (and complies with relevant legislation).

Digital and Print Media can help you assess your content needs, plan a content solution and information architecture, evaluate your website's effectiveness through statistics, and comply with legislation and best practice.

DPM recommends that a regular review of all content, whether text, graphic or rich media be undertaken.

Content Management System (CMS)

The University provides a Content Management System (CMS) to manage content in its websites. This application is managed by ICT.

The CMS helps users make and maintain websites without detailed technical knowledge. It ensures that University websites have a consistent look and feel, are easy to use, easy to maintain, and comply with legislation.

CMS users need to attend CMS training.
