What is a Disability?
The Disability Discrimination Act 1992 provides a definition of 'disability'. A disability can be:
- physical
- intellectual
- psychiatric
- sensory
- neurological or learning disabilities
- physical disfigurement
- illnesses such as HIV/AIDS.
Carers, relatives and associates of people with a disability are also protected against being discriminated against or harassed because of these associations.
