Navigation
Research indicates that learner control of navigation and direction means that the student can plan, structure and sequence his or her own learning experience. Studies of learner control have identified a number of positive gains including increased motivation, increased self-determination and increased achievement over more structured forms of the same materials.
A well-designed site should offer simple, clear, intuitive navigation and layout.
Remember to:
- Give learners choice in navigation - use the course menu and icons
- Make important information easily accessible - learners won’t remain active in your site if they have to dig through several layers to find important information
