Plagiarism Compliance Statement
On 15 Feb 2005, The Vice-Chancellor approved a new policy,
"Student Plagiarism: Course Work Policy and Procedure".
Part C.8.1 of this policy, "Preventing Plagiarism - Compliance Statements", states that,
"All students are required to submit a signed statement of compliance with all Work submitted to the University for assessment, presentation or publication. A statement of compliance must be in the form of:
- University assignment cover sheet;
- University electronic form; or
- University written statement;
certifying that no part of the Work constitutes a breach of this Policy."
The University is investigating the best way to implement this policy within the learning management systems on campus.
In the interim, we suggest that lecturers take the following measures in good faith:
- Place this [image] of the compliance statement on the assignment submission and quiz introduction pages, along with a link to the Plagiarism Policy
- Incorporate the compliance statement into your assignment coversheet, or provide the statement as a separate document to be submitted with the assignment.
You can download and edit the [rtf version] of the statement to suit your needs. Students will be able to type their name and date of submission into this document. If they provide this information elsewhere in the assignment, you can delete these lines.
