Status of Operation
The system has been reorganised by precinct. While some meters have been newly added, some others may no longer appear. Please report any faults to David Latimer x12264. Services which are cost-recovered should appear under 'Allied organisation' and only available to specific members of that organisation. If any organisation would like to update the access list, please contact David Latimer on 9351 2264. Versions 4 of Utility Information System should be working, except for realtime data. Realtime data for meters on Camperdown Campus is not available due to work on Eastern Avenue and Usyd Central. We will advise when services will be restored or anticipated to be restored. The issue does not affect sub-stations where profile data is received from Energy Australia every month. On-line Systems are showing data from the version 4 UIS database. Version 3 data is no longer available online.
On 22nd March 2008, the design of the on-line system was updated to allow navigation by precinct. If any user has difficulty finding a service using the new system of classification, please contact D. Latimer on x12264. At the beginging of July 2005, the on-line system was upgraded to work with version 4 of the Utility Information System. There are some minor differences in the way some meters are allocated costs and charges. If your department, college or organisation is sub-billed for energy and/or water then the values on your Usage Reports may not exactly coincide with the on-line system for December 2004 and prior months and years.
The Utility Information System (UIS) consists of automatic data import software and utility management software operating around the clock. The system interfaced with BMCS computers and smart meters and relies on a high-end relational database and the number crunching power of servers operated by Information Technology Services. To ensure that the real-time utility graphs are updated every 15 minutes, the system requires the continuous operation of the computers, the software, the database system, the network infrastructure and the metering devices. The system is made reliable because a backup of the meter is downloaded every month and returned to the system to ensure any real-time data losses are temporary. The 16 Day historical electricity profiles are extracted from very reliable smart meters operated by our energy providers metering services. This profile data is also imported into the UIS on a monthly basis. Users are advised to use the email enquiry facility below when the real-time graphs may have straight lines, unexplained gaps or a periodic delay in the real-time graphical data. |
