Am I an international student?
You are an international student if you are NOT:
~ an Australian citizen
~ a permanent resident of Australia, or
~ a New Zealand citizen.
You are an international student if you hold a permit for temporary entry to Australia. For example, if your status is:
~ overseas student
~ permanent resident of New Zealand
~ diplomat
~ temporary resident who hold permits for work purposes
~ refugee
~ a dependent of any of the above

Can I study to improve my English?
If you need to improve your standard of English before or during your period of study, English courses are available at the Centre for English Teaching (CET) at the University of Sydney. CET offers courses in English for Academic Purposes and Academic Study Skills for periods varying from 4 weeks to 50 weeks. CET will also prepare you for a CET university direct entry test or for IELTS and TOEFL tests. CET operates on a fee-for-service basis and we are unable to waive fees for exchange students.
