- If you have a tertiary record
- If you believe you are eligible to be considered under a special entry scheme
- If you are a mature-age student
- If you have an overseas qualification

If you are a Year 12 student
Your application will usually be considered on the basis of your University Admission Index (UAI) or the equivalent interstate result and where relevant, additional selection criteria.
If you have a tertiary record
If you have completed one year or more of a tertiary qualification you will be considered for entry on the basis of these results and other criteria (usually the UAI).
If you believe you are eligible to be considered under a special entry scheme
If you are concerned that your results may not be good enough to qualify for your course of choice, you may wish to find out about the University's special entry schemes.
If you are a mature-age student
If you are at least 21 years of age on 1 March of the year you wish to enter the University, do not have a UAI or equivalent and/or have not completed one full-time year (or part-time equivalent) of tertiary study, you can complete an approved preparation course and apply to study at the University.
If you have an overseas qualification
If you would like to apply to the University of Sydney based on an overseas qualification you should contact the Admissions Office to see whether your qualifications can be considered for entry. You may also need to sit an English test.
Please note that if you are an international fee-paying student (ie, you are not a citizen of Australia, a permanent resident of Australia, or a citizen of New Zealand), you should contact the International Office for information about applying.
