Bridging courses
Assumed knowledge is what we expect you to know or what subjects we expect you to have studied before you begin your course. If you don't have the assumed knowledge you won't be excluded from the course but you might find it difficult to manage the work. Bridging courses are available at the University of Sydney to help you get up to speed. While bridging courses may be strongly recommended for commencing students, they are not prerequisites.
Courses offered are:
Mathematics
Many first-year units assume a certain level of mathematical knowledge. Students without the assumed knowledge are permitted to enrol but are likely to experience difficulties unless they undertake additional study in preparation. The University runs the following courses in February:
Mathematics Extension 1 course - for students who have completed HSC Mathematics and who propose to enrol in higher-level mathematics units that have an assumed knowledge of Mathematics Extension 1.
Mathematics course - for students who have not completed HSC Mathematics and propose to enrol in first-year programs such as Architecture, Commerce or Economics which have an assumed knowledge of HSC Mathematics.
