Application outcome

Application processing time

The time taken to process an your application depends on the course that you are applying for and the completeness of your application. If your qualification is not known to us or if your documents are incomplete, it will take longer. To make sure you have included all required documents, see the guide to making an application. If you are requesting credit for courses already studied, it will also take longer to process your application.

In general, undergraduate applications will be processed in 4 weeks or less from the time of receipt.

However, please note that the University receives many applications at the time of deadlines (31 October and 30 April) and delays may be experienced for applications submitted at those times. At these times we will prioritise applications for the upcoming semester. We are aware that quick response is important to you and will try to respond accordingly.

Application outcome

You will be considered for admission if you meet our minimum eligibility criteria. The offer of a place also depends upon the number of places available and the quality of those competing for a place.

Advice about your application outcome will be emailed to the address given on your application (or to your agent if you are using one).

If your application is successful, you will receive either a Firm Offer or a Conditional Offer from the University. The reason for a Conditional Offer may be that you have satisfied our academic requirements, but not yet satisfied our English requirements, or perhaps you still need to provide us final results from your current course.

You can find out more about accepting a Firm Offer.

You must provide us proof that you have satisfied the conditions of your Conditional Offer before we can then issue a Firm Offer.

If your application is not successful, we will write to you explaining why it was not accepted. If you listed a second or third preference on your application, you will be automatically considered for that. You may be required to provide further documents, or complete other courses.

If you were unsuccessful in your application for an undergraduate course, you may be referred to the University of Sydney Foundation Program which prepares you for undergraduate study.
