Independent Learning Activity International Public Health Seminars Course
A new Global Health ILA will be available in 2009 Semester 2. Up to 5 students will be able to undertake the MPH course entitled ‘International Public Health Seminars’ PUBH 5113. The course aims to give students an insight into the realities of prevention and control of diseases and injury. It also covers health promotion in developing country populations and is based on real examples, presented by a wide range of people with direct practical experience. It also covers a variety of issues in health and development disease prevention and control and healthy services in developing country settings.
There are 2 hours of lectures per week for eight weeks and a one day workshop and one day of student presentations. Students will be expected to actively participate and complete the assessments (essay and presentation) for the unit in order to satisfy the requirements of their ILA. Written applications will be called for via a Medical Program bulletin in April-May 2009. Short-listed applicants may be required to attend an interview.
