Honours scholarships

In 2009 the University of Sydney will be offering 100 Honours Scholarships, each worth $6000. Honours Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit and personal attributes such as leadership and creativity.

In order to be eligible, the program you are studying must have an additional year following the normal three-year Bachelor degree. Please check with the relevant Faculty if you are unsure whether your course of study is considered to have an additional Honours year. Some Honours degrees do not include an additional year of study and are therefore not eligible for this scholarship.

All local students are eligible, including those students who completed their undergraduate degree at a university other than Sydney.

Please note that, applications are open once a year only, irrespective of whether you intend to commence in the first or second semester.

Further information about these scholarships is available on the Scholarships website.

Applications are now open.

Costs

There are two types of honours places available at the University of Sydney: Commonwealth supported places; and International fee-paying places.

Commonwealth supported places

Most undergraduate students at the University of Sydney are Commonwealth supported. These students have most of the cost of their education paid by the government but must also contribute towards the cost themselves.

International fee-paying places

There are different tuition fees for International students. The honours year is normally charged at the same rate as the bachelors degree to which it is attached.
