The honours year is a very independent one. You choose the subject matter, the research methods and what you want to get out of the experience. The University does, however, offer you support throughout the year.

When you undertake honours you will be given a supervisor. This supervisor is a university academic who has expertise in the topic you are researching.
They will provide you with guidance and support throughout the year, not just on the content, but also in research methods and the actual writing and structure of your thesis.
Educational support
The Learning Centre at the University of Sydney assists students in developing the generic skills which are necessary for learning and communicating knowledge and ideas at university.
The Centre is committed to helping students achieve their academic potential throughout their studies and run a number of free workshops, including some designed specifically for honours students.
Domestic student support
The University of Sydney offers plenty of assistance, if things don't go quite as planned or if you have particular requirements.
Students can access a wide range of services including academic assistance, financial assistance, childcare, health care, counselling, careers advice and facilities for students with disabilities.
