You can record the audio of your presentation directly onto the computer with the 'Lapel Mic Recorder’ located on the computer desktop in all AV equipped centrally booked teaching spaces. Just follow these steps:

  1. Click the 'Lapel Mic Recorder' icon on the desktop.
  2. You must use the lapel mic, so ensure it’s switched on, and clipped high on your collar or top.
  3. To start recording, press the red record button. A prompt will ask where you’d like to save the recording.
  4. Select the location, and name your recording and the recording will then start automatically.
  5. Click the ‘Stop’ icon to end your recording. It will be saved as an MP3 file and you can close the window.
  6. You can now copy your audio recording to a storage device such as a USB memory stick.

Audio & Video

You can record an audio & video of your lecture directly onto the computer with ‘Camtasia’ located on the computer desktop. This will capture the computer screen display as well as the sound from the lapel mic. Just follow these steps:

  1. Click the 'Desktop and Mic Recorder' icon on the computer desktop.
  2. You must use the lapel mic, so ensure it’s switched on, and clipped high on your collar or top.
  3. Press the red record button to start recording.
  4. Click the ‘Stop’ icon to end your recording.
  5. Click the ‘Save’ icon, and select the location & the name of your recording. It will be saved as an AV1 file.
  6. You can now copy your recording to a storage device such as a USB memory stick.

Lectopia

Lectopia is a lecture recording and web publishing tool, and students can access lecture recordings on the web at their own convenience. Lectures can be automatically recorded and processed into a variety of streaming media formats. All that is required is for the lecturer to turn on the microphone for the recording to begin. The audio and visual recordings are then incorporated into unit pages on WebCT, Blackboard or Medicine LMS system for students to access.
