Migration to Exchange email and shared calendaring

As of the end of November, over 3000 staff members are now using the Exchange email and calendaring system managed by ICT.

As more staff migrate to Exchange, the shared calendaring system is becoming progressively more useful, because it allows rapid organisation of meetings within local areas and across the University, without the need for back-and-forth emails or phonecalls to determine when all the required attendees are available.

To make this as effective as possible, the Exchange community is encouraged to use the calendar as the primary method of recording appointments. If all your unavailable times are reflected in the Exchange calendar, it becomes easy for others to see when you are free and invite you to meetings – of course, you are not obliged to accept! For the same reason, you are encouraged to leave your availability visible to others (this is the default setting).

If your area has not yet commenced the migration to Exchange, then the head of unit or manager responsible may like to enquire about the process, via email to .

Instructions and usage guides for Exchange are available.
