Software

The following software is common to ICT Access Lab computers:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader 9
  • Endnote X2
  • Flash Player 10
  • Internet Explorer 7
  • Microsoft Office 2007 Applications
  • Quick Time Player 7
  • SPSS v17
  • Symantec AntiVirus
  • Telnet Software (e.g. SSH Secure Shell)
  • WebCT Compatible Java Runtime Client

The following software is only installed in specific labs.

  • MatLab software - Link Access Lab
  • Media Master software - Language Access Lab
  • Google Earth and ArcGIS software - Geosciences Access Lab

24 Hour Computer Access

Students and permanent staff of the University are eligible to have 24 hour access to the McGrath Access Centre (Room 201, Carslaw Bldg, Eastern Avenue).

Costs

If you are a permanent staff or student and do not have existing access on your student or staff card, the cost of will be $16.50 + GST.

If you are a permanent staff or student and have existing access to other buildings, the cost will be $5.50.

To organise this access, take your student or staff card and other forms of photo identification to the security systems desk at:

Security Systems is open 8am until 5pm weekdays.

When talking to Security Systems, it is important to ask for access to the McGrath Access Centre, Rm. 201, Carslaw Building-F07.

Energy conservation in the ICT Access Labs

The ICT Access Labs are committed to energy conservation. To that end, the monitors are set to power down after 20 minutes of inactivity. This will make the computers appear to be off as the screens will not display anything. To reactivate the monitors, move the mouse, or press any key on the keyboard.
