Institute of Social Sciences

The Institute of Social Sciences has been established to build capacity, enhance performance and raise the profile of the social sciences at the University of Sydney. Its main activities will be to:

• develop and construct cross-disciplinary research collaboration;
• establish linkages with external partners in government, industry, and community groups, as well as with other universities, especially internationally; and
• provide a focal point for the development of programs of teaching and learning in the social sciences.

In order to facilitate its interaction with every faculty and activities across the entire University, the Institute has been established at University level, and reports directly to the DVC Research.

The Director of the Institute is Professor David S G Goodman.
The Executive Officer of the Institute is Dr Yasmin Tambiah.
