Members' Association
Introduction to IHMA

International House Members' Association (IHMA) was formed in 1967, the same year as the foundation of International House, and has represented the interests of its residents ever since. IHMA seeks to foster community development within the House through a range of social activities and events which are held throughout the year. IHMA also takes feedback from residents about any concerns which they may have about life at the House.
Welcome from the Chairperson

International House will become your new home and will provide you with a unique exposure to cultural diversity. We, members of IHMA, are excited about the arrival of every new resident and we are impatient to meet each one of you individually to make you as comfortable as possible in your new environment.
The community of International House is composed of students from different cultural and religious backgrounds. This ensures a dynamic and stimulating cultural exposure for every resident, and a unique ‘facilities-sharing’ experience. We, residents of International House, live and learn in a friendly environment that enhances our academic pursuit by creating time and space to pursue personal interests while sharing our differing views and ideas.
The most cultural and ethnically cosmopolitan residence on the University of Sydney campus welcomes you to this great learning experience, which is starting for you, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The IHMA Executive Committee hosts a variety of orientation activities to help new residents discover the various places of interest of our beautiful city. Our activities will hopefully make the University of Sydney and the city of Sydney a more attractive place and at the same time a friendlier environment for the unique University experience in this cosmopolitan city. Please note that each Faculty within the University hosts their own Orientation activities and you should check with your respective faculty for their schedule.
A common goal of all these activities to be organised by IHMA is the discovery of new horizons while sharing our differing ideas to foster cultural interaction within our community and outside.
Again welcome to International House, your home away from home.
Till our meeting, good luck and enjoy your respective University Faculty Orientations,
Michael Neely

The IHMA Committee
IHMA operates via a committee which is elected by residents at the start of each year. The committee is split up into a number of sub-committees, each responsible for the organisation and management of a particular aspect of resident life – for example, sport, food, social activities and so forth.
