Annual Events

Many social events fill the calendar at International House, arranged by both the house and the residents' association. From formal dinners to discos and a harbour cruise, there is plenty of activities to keep you engaged.

Orientation at Hyde Park
 Orientation (Feb-Mar)
Orientation begins about 10 days before the start of the semester.

Welcome BBQ on the Roof Top
 Welcome Barbecues (Mar and Aug)
At the beginning of each semester, residents meet each other at the Welcome Barbecue, held on the rooftop of IH with views of the Sydney skyline.

 Flag Dinner (Mar)
At the open form dinner, a representative from each country showcase their flag at a ceremony.
discos
Disco
 Disco (throughout the year)
After formal dinners and I-Night (in September), the resident association (IHMA) puts on discos in the Wool Room (function room).

 Bronte Beach Barbecue (Mar)
Residents discovers the beautiful beaches of Sydney at the Bronte Beach Barbecue, where you get to swim, sun bathe, play volleyball, and more.

 Harbour Cruise (Apr)
Residents enjoy the spectular views of the Sydney Harbour at night on our own cruise ship, over finger food and drinks.

 Food Fair (May)
With over 40 nationalities living in the house each year, food fair is a unique culinary experience not see anywhere else.

Star Gazing at Log Cabin
 Star Gazing (Aug)
The alumni association invites residents to the house's log cabin (in Belanglo State Forest, halfway to Canberra) for a night of outdoor barbecue and star gazing.

I-Night is the cultural performance put on by the residents, including films, dances, short skits, and other acts.

The IH Ball is the end of the year dinner and dance. It has been held at the Centrepoint Tower and Star Room in Darling Harbour.

Paper Lanterns at Mid-Autumn Festival
 Mid-Autumn Festival (Sept)
Celebrate the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival with moon cakes and paper lanterns.

Candlelight Closing Dinner
 Candlight Dinner (Oct)
The Candlelight Dinner is the closing formal dinner.
