Projects

IH residents are enormously talented. We have been blessed with many ambitious film makers, dancers, musicians, actors and singers that have demonstrated their many talents at I-Night and other House events such as IH Idol.

IH Idol (2004)

IH Idol (2004)

Wherever you go in this world, there should be an Idol there. So is here, in this International House. If you like to see him or her, why not turning off your loud TV, broadcasting Australian Idol -a popular TV entertainment of annual audition in which thousands of people sing as they like or as they believe, dreaming to be concluded as the Idol- and why not finding the hidden Idol near you, who might be sitting next to you and eating IH food everyday!

IH Idol was one of the biggest projects for the I-Night (our annual cultural event with lots of performances) of 2004, in which everything was run by residents and this IH Idol was not an exception. I myself joined as one of the contestants too.

We (the participants) had to go through, in advance, a first individual audition of a Capella singing and a second audition of live performances in public followed by practical feedbacks from three judges (who were also IH residents, they gave us quite experienced advices, though!), so that we can be on the stage of the Final at I-Night. Three elected Final singers really enjoyed their performances on the gorgeous stage, receiving hot spot light, music, cheers and gazes from three video cameras and hundreds of eyes!

Thanks to the project organiser, Maverick, and all other staffs who worked with all their might, IH Idol carried out successfully in very professional way. In fact, it somewhat looked like the real TV show. And the IH Idol who was finally elected was a seriously awesome Chinese guy (Wen-Shuo) who has got a gift for voice and whom we had never known that he sings!
