Sources of investment funds
The funds for University investments come primarily from a mixture of short-term funds and long-term funds:
Short-term funds
Short-term funds are monies which are earmarked for specific purposes and which are expected to be available either immediately or for use in the near term. They include:
- faculty operating accounts and retain surpluses
- foundation funds
- student fees
- research grant monies
- other grant funds
- consulting and donation account monies
- capital development program funds
- special reserves of colleges
- government money received in advance
Long-term funds
Long-term funds are monies held by the University for the realization of long-term goals, and may be held as investments indefinitely. They include:
- bequests
- endowments
- capital preserved trusts
- foundations
- discretionary capital
- provisions
