Academic Promotions

Teaching is one of the three categories for the evaluation of academic performance at the University of Sydney. In order to be promoted staff must demonstrate either "outstanding" or "superior" performance. "Outstanding" and "superior" are defined as:

  • Outstanding - demonstrating very high levels of performance in meeting the criteria for the current level of appointment, as well as providing evidence of capacity to satisfy the criteria of the next level.
  • Superior - demonstrating high levels of performance in meeting the criteria for the current level of appointment.

Minimum Standards required for Promotion

 

Promotion from - to Teaching Research Service Total

Teaching & Research:

A-B, B-C, C-D

Superior/ Outstanding Superior/ Outstanding Superior 1 Outstanding (which must either be Teaching or Research), 2 Superior

Teaching & Research:

D-E

Outstanding Outstanding Superior 2 Outstanding, 1 Superior
