Technical Language: Using Verbs

The verbs in the summary usually reflect the verbs you use in each section of your report. However, as you are ‘standing back’ from the report and providing an overview, some verbs may change. Most of the verbs are in the past or present tense and can be in active or passive voice. The conclusion stage usually shifts the verb tense to present or modal forms of the verb as this is where you make generalisations, claims, or recommendations based on your findings.
