Structure
The main function of the title page is to tell the reader clearly and concisely what the report is about and to provide important identifying information. Title pages in industry reports are usually detailed enough so that readers know:
- the name of the organisation or group who conducted the field trip e.g. ABC Consultants
- the title of the report e.g. Field Trip Report of Drummond Basin Geology
- the date of field trip e.g. July 2006
- the author/s of the report and their position e.g. John Smith, Head: Field Projects
- the date the report was submitted e.g. 31st July 2006
- to whom the report was submitted (e.g client name)
For your university assignments, you will need to include the institution and school name (usually these are at the top of the title page), and, the course name and code, your student ID and the name of your course coordinator (usually these are located after the title and date of the field trip report).
