Biosafety Training

Topics include:

• types of biological hazards and modes of infection
• safe microbiological practice as per Australian Standard 2243.3 Safety in Laboratories - Microbiology
• risk groupings of microorganisms and containment measures
• use of biological safety cabinets
• disinfection
• decontamination and biological waste disposal
• OGTR requirements and guidelines for genetic manipulation work.

Target Audience

This course is for staff and honours and postgraduate students who work with microorganisms and other biological materials.
