First Attack Fire Fighting

In this course participants will develop skills and knowledge that will enable them to safely contain and/or extinguish small fires in the early stages. All participants will be required to participate in a practical exercise involving the use of fire extinguishers.

Topics Include:

  • classes of fires
  • choice of extinguishing equipment
  • the limitations of first attack fire fighting

Target Audience

This course is designed for staff who are most likely to encounter a fire in their workplace, in particular staff who are involved in the handling and storage of flammable chemicals or the use of machinery. University Emergency Personnel (eg. Wardens & Chief Wardens) are also encouraged to apply.
