Professor Gillis is Senior Staff Specialist in Intensive Care and a palliative care physician at the Children’s Hospital, Westmead. His interests include philosophical, historical and sociological aspects of Medicine; a particular interest is in the status of the medical history and his PhD thesis was titled Taking a Medical History in Child Illness : Representations of Parents in Medical Texts since 1850. Dr Jordens has an honours degree in philosophy, a masters degree in public health, and a PhD which forms part of the ongoing research program at the Centre for Values, Ethics and the Law. He is currently co-editor of the new Journal of Bioethical Inquiry. Chris has broad-ranging interests in social and ethical issues relating to health and medicine; he specialises in qualitative and linguistic methods of inquiry.
