Background
T R Williams (1825-1871) was a pupil of Antoine Claudet, who introduced the daguerreotype to England from France in 1840. This daguerreotype is from the collection of Professor Archibald Liversidge, who held various Chairs including that of Chemistry at the University of Sydney from 1872 to 1907. The photographic collection has one positively identified Daguerreotype and two further possible stereo daguerreotypes by T R Williams.
