Macleay Museum Access for Wheelchair Users

The Macleay Museum is located on the top floor of the Macleay Building (A12) on Science Road, adjacent to the Main Quadrangle (grid reference D16). The main access is via a stairway. A lift is available by prior arrangement with Macleay Museum staff during opening hours on (02) 9036 5253 or email
The main Museum entrance in Gosper Lane (off Science Road) is not suitable for wheelchair access. Wheelchair access is at the western end of the Macleay Building near the Quadrangle and next to the Botany Lawn (Click here for a photo of the entrance). You will need to meet a staff member here to gain access.
If you are coming to an event please make an appointment with our staff to arrange lift access to the Museum when booking in and leave additional time to arrive.

A valid RTA Mobility Parking Permit authorises permit holders to park free of charge in marked disabled parking bays and in any other unrestricted parking bay.
The simplest parking and drop-off location for the Macleay Museum is at the top of Science Road adjacent to the Main Quadrangle (grid reference D16). Enter the University from the Parramatta Road and Ross Street Gate, Glebe.
Alternative parking is located at University Place outside the Great Hall (grid reference E18). Enter the University from the main entrance off Parramatta Road and Arundel Street.

There are no toilets in the Macleay Museum.
The closest wheelchair access toilets are in the Main Quadrangle. Enter the Quadrangle from the archway at the top of Science Road. Once in the Quadrangle the toilets are first on your left. Within the male and female toilets is a wheelchair accessible toilet; there is currently no unisex option.
