Sydney Uni Sport and Fitness organise casual sports on a weekly basis in the University Sports and Aquatic Centre. Since second semester 2008 International House has been participating in indoor soccer, netball and basketball.

The matches are setup in a tournament format, in which every week at around lunch time an IH team plays against another team, to try and gain points to proceed to the finals at the end of the semester.

Initially IH entered these sports tournaments with two soccer teams and one netball team. In 2009 this has expanded; now with 3 soccer teams, one netball team and a basketball team. IH is represented in every competition available.

International House teams were very successful throughout the coarse of this semester. IH men's soccer set two teams, one of which played an extraordinary season and was able to reach the semi-finals but unfortunately couldn't proceed to the finals, largely due to an extensive list of injured players.

The mixed netball team, who were also unable to commence beyond the semi-finals, made similar experiences. This semester's most successful team was the IH basketball team who were unbeaten until the finals and renown for winning by a large margin. In a fiery final match the IH team were defeated in a head to head match.

The casual and social nature of the lunchtime sports is a great activity for all IH residents. IH will be participating in more such activities next semester and hope to see an equally good turnout!

Thank you to all residents who became part of a team and committed themselves.
