Celebrities in Action

The hype leading up to the first official IHMA (International House Members Association) party of the semester was quite extraordinary. The theme of the event was 'Celebrities' and so in the week prior to the event little else was spoken of apart from which resident will dress up as what celebrity.

Quite unusually the party was held as a separate event and was not preceded by a formal dinner. This change was very welcome as many resident's costumes required extensive preparation time!

Thank you very much to our newly elected social coordinators Michelle, Antonia, Charlie and Vik who did a great job decorating the Wool Room in a truly glamorous manner and preparing plenty of delicious snacks and drinks.

As residents started arriving at the party one by one the costume ideas residents had come up with became more and more eccentric. Residents were very cautious not to give away their costume idea before the night of the party and thereby were able to surprise other attendees with their costumes.

Four residents made a great effort by arriving as an ensemble in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles costumes. Throughout the night epic sward battles between Ninja Turtles and William Wallace from the movie classic Breaveheart were spotted.

The most accurate and well thought through costume was Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean worn by Shivam who well and truly got into character in the course of the night.

All in all the party was a great success where all residents and their guests had a great time and has set high standards for all upcoming events.
