Safe Work Australia Week 2009
Safe Work Australia Week will run from 25-31 October this year to highlight the importance of safety and health at work. Workplaces across Australia are encouraged to undertake activities that focus on workplace safety awareness. Following the success of SWAW last year, OHSIM is once again encouraging departments at the University to hold their own local event to put safety onto the agenda.
Suggestions for events are:
- Hold your own safety themed morning tea
- Show an OHS dvd (OHSIM has some for loan)
- Conduct a workplace safety inspection
- Conduct a trial evacuation drill
- Meet to discuss and resolve an OHS problem at work
- Spring clean your workplace
- SOSS - show off your safety solution
- Embrace "Fluro Friday" - wear fluro colours for visibility on Friday 30th October
OHSIM will be offering prizes for the person/persons who facilitate the best SWAW event held at the University. Events will be observed and assessed by members of OHSIM and the Safety Network, on criteria which include orginality and relevance to the area involved.
Be sure to register your events and safety innovations by contacting OHSIM via the SWAW Registration Form. The closing date for registrations is Friday 16th October 2009.
