  • Who you are
  • Which department you work in

Requirements and specifications

  • Prepare a list of generic specifications and requirements for the goods and/or services. Do not favour any particular supplier with your specifications.
  • Any relevant background information including quotes and correspondence with vendors.

Supplier engagement

  • Do you have a current relationship with the supplier/s? What is the extent of it?
  • Have you been supplied with any verbal or written quotations?

Funding

  • How much funding is available and what are the funding sources?
  • Have you considered the whole of life cost?
  • Are there any consumable items associated with the main purchase?
  • Is there a requirement for ongoing maintenance?
  • Is there a requirement for an extended warranty?

Facilities requirements (if any)

  • Do you have a lab/facility for the equipment already?
  • Is the facility big enough to house the machine/equipment
  • Are there any minor/major works required from Campus Infrastructure Services? For example, does a wall need to be knocked down? Do you need a new power source/supply installed?
