Applications for the 2010 Scholarship will open in June 2009 and application forms can be requested from the Honorary Secretary, . Please read the information on this website carefully to assist you in preparing your application.
There is one Scholarship for each state and three for Australia-at-Large. After applications have been received, the State Selection Committee members will review each application.
While this site is kindly hosted by the University of Sydney, graduates from all NSW Universities are eligible to apply for the NSW Rhodes Scholarship.
Before you submit an application

Consider the qualifications and eligibility information carefully.
Competition for the scholarships in New South Wales is extremely keen and, in assessing your qualifications, you need to be totally honest with yourself: is your academic record in the first rank at your university? Are you likely to be in top half dozen in your honours year? It is not sufficient to have been, say, captain of the football or hockey team, or president of the student union while maintaining a fairly ordinary academic record. While the Rhodes Scholarship is unique in that it was never intended for the brilliant academic without more to offer, proven intellectual and academic ability of a high standard remains the first quality required of applicants.
Further useful information can be found elesewhere on the web site. You are strongly advised to review the instructions for completion of the application form for suggestions about the choice of referees, and what is required in preparing an application. You should also visit the frequently asked questions page.
In the instructions for completion of the application form mentioned above you will see reference to how referees reports are obtained. You should note that New South Wales is one of the states that requires YOU to hand a Referee's Report Form to your referees. The Honorary Secretary does not write to your referees seeking reports on your behalf. The forms will be supplied to you with your application form and are self-explanatory.
You will receive six Referee's Report Forms with your application form. Make sure that they are included with the form. If not, contact the Honorary Secretary without delay.
