International and comparative criminal trial project
Professor Mark Findlay was responsible (along with Professor Ralph Henham, Nottingham Law School, Nottingham Trent University) for the establishment of the International and Comparative Criminal Trial Project.
The International and Comparative Criminal Trial Project relies on a network of expert contributors across Europe to provide the civil law dimension to our work. The University of Sydney has combined with academic institutes in Spain, Italy, France and Germany. At present the team is jointly examining the influence of victim participation in regional and international sentencing processes in collaboration with a group at the University of Como. In addition, the project has entered the first stage of an Institutional arrangement with Max Planck from the Institute for Foreign and International Law which will involve joint research, shared training, and mutual resource applications. To date, besides a wealth of publications, the International and Comparative Criminal Trial Project has held several regional and international research meetings and has established a web-based clearinghouse on international criminal justice. Nottingham Trent University and the University of Sydney have jointly supported the project.
