This research project aims to develop new feature extraction and classification methods for face recognition, human gait recognition or person re-identification.
Electrical and Computer Engineering
Masters/PHD
There is increasing research interest in person identification from biometrics in uncontrolled environments such as airports, banks, and car parks. Face recognition, human gait recognition and person re-identification are important research topics in biometrics. This project aims to develop advanced feature extraction and classification algorithms to provide critical early warning against terrorist, criminal, and other human-based threats. The intelligent person identification systems that will be developed through this research project will enhance homeland security.
The students are expected to have excellent mathematics background and programming skills. Scholarships or funding is available for excellent students.
